Specificity: This antibody is specific for human rIL-5, and does not cross-react with human rIL-1alpha, rIL-1beta, rIL-4, rIL-8, rM-CSF, or rTGF-alpha.
Target Information
IL-5 is a cytokine that acts as a growth and differentiation factor for both B cells and eosinophils. It is a main regulator of eosinopoiesis, eosinophil maturation, and activation. Elevated IL-5 production is associated with asthma and hypereosinophilic syndromes. The IL-5 receptor is a heterodimer, whose beta subunit is shared with receptors for IL-3 and CSF2 (GM-CSF). IL-5, along with IL-4, IL-13, and CSF2, forms a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5, and these cytokines are coordinately regulated by long-range elements on chromosome 5q31.
