Product Specific Information

  • 1 µg/mL of MA5-27593 was sufficient for detection of NALCN in 20 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
  • Detects approximately 200 kDa.
  • This antibody was formerly sold as clone S187-7.

Target Information

Nalcn is a voltage-independent, cation-nonselective channel permeable to sodium, potassium, and calcium ions. It regulates resting membrane potential and neuronal excitability. Nalcn activity is modulated by neuropeptides such as neurotensin and substance P via SRC family kinases-dependent pathways. It is required for normal respiratory rhythm, neonatal survival, and systemic osmoregulation by controlling serum sodium concentration. Nalcn is involved in intestinal pace-making activity and modulation of substantia nigra pars reticulata neuron excitability.
Diseases associated with NALCN include congenital contractures of limbs and face, hypotonia, developmental delay, and infantile psychomotor retardation with characteristic facies.
