Specificity: Clone 2E4 recognizes mouse CD25. This epitope is distinct from the IL-2 binding site and does not block binding of IL-2 to CD25.

Target Information

CD25 (IL2 receptor alpha chain/IL2RA) is a cytokine receptor involved in the proliferation of T and B lymphocytes. The IL2 receptor complex consists of IL2RA, IL2RB, and IL2RG subunits, forming a high-affinity receptor.
Homodimeric IL2RA chains result in low-affinity binding, while IL2RB homodimers yield medium affinity. IL2 expression in mature thymocytes is monoallelic, representing a unique regulatory mechanism.
IL2 is primarily produced by mature T cells and functions as a growth factor, differentiation factor, and apoptosis regulator. It promotes B cell proliferation, enhances NK cell activity, and inhibits granulocyte-macrophage colony formation.
Disruption of the corresponding gene in mice leads to colitis-like disease, suggesting a role in immune regulation. Mutations in this gene are associated with interleukin 2 receptor alpha deficiency.
