Description:
The 8D4-8 antibody reacts with human interleukin-4 (IL-4), a 15–19 kDa cytokine secreted by Th2 cells.

Applications Reported:
Reported for use as a capture antibody for human IL-4 ELISA and for intracellular staining in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested for intracellular staining and flow cytometric analysis of stimulated human peripheral blood cells.
Recommended use: 5 µL (0.06 µg) per test (final volume 100 µL).
Cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information

Interleukin-4 (IL-4) is a pleiotropic, immune-modulatory cytokine produced by activated T cells and serves as a ligand for the interleukin-4 receptor. IL-4 has a broad range of biological actions and shares overlapping functions with IL-13. STAT6 plays a key role in mediating IL-4 signaling. The IL-4 gene is part of a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5q, located near IL-13 and IL-5, regulated by long-range elements over a 120 kb region. IL-4 delta 2 is a known splice variant.
