Target Information
Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is a peptide hormone of the glucagon family produced by intestinal L cells. Active forms GLP-1(7-36)amide and GLP-1(7-37) stimulate glucose-dependent insulin secretion. They are rapidly degraded by dipeptidyl peptidase-IV (DPP-IV, CD26) into GLP-1(9-36)amide and GLP-1(9-37). The GLP-1 sequence is fully conserved among mammalian species.
