AURKC (Aurora C) is a chromosomal passenger protein that forms complexes with AURKB (Aurora B) and inner centromere proteins. It plays a role in microtubule organization related to centrosome/spindle function during mitosis.
AURKC is overexpressed in several cancer cell lines, suggesting involvement in oncogenic signaling.
Aurora kinases are associated with mitotic structures and influence key cell cycle events including:
- Centrosome duplication
- Chromosome bi-orientation and segregation
- Cleavage furrow positioning and ingression
