For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step (e.g., using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

Lens proteins are composed primarily of crystallins (approximately 95%), which are also found in vertebrate skeletal muscle. In the lens, crystallins maintain the proper refractive index.
There are three major classes of crystallins: alpha, beta, and gamma. Alpha-crystallin, the largest, consists of alpha-A and alpha-B gene products and constitutes about 40% of total lens protein.
Alpha-crystallin also acts as a molecular chaperone, preventing protein aggregation that may lead to cataract formation. Phosphorylation of alpha-crystallin may occur in response to stress, contributing to structural control and protein maintenance.
Alpha-B crystallin has been associated with Alexander’s disease, where it accumulates in brain cells.
