Target Information
EB1 family proteins are evolutionarily conserved proteins that bind microtubule plus-ends and centrosomes, regulating microtubule dynamics and organization. The MAPRE genes encode EB1 family proteins: MAPRE1 (EB1), MAPRE2 (RP1), and MAPRE3 (EBF3). These proteins are expressed ubiquitously.
The EB1 (MAPRE1) gene, located at 20q11.2, can be fused to MLL in pro-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia. EB1 interacts with the APC tumor-suppressor protein and plays a critical role in microtubule dynamics, cell polarity, and chromosome stability.
