Target Information

The 26S proteasome is a multicatalytic proteinase complex composed of a 20S core and a 19S regulator.

• The 20S core contains four rings of 28 non-identical subunits (two alpha and two beta rings).
• The 19S regulator includes a base (with ATPase and non-ATPase subunits) and a lid (up to 10 non-ATPase subunits).
  Proteasomes are abundant in eukaryotic cells and cleave peptides in an ATP/ubiquitin-dependent, non-lysosomal pathway.
  The immunoproteasome processes class I MHC peptides.
  This gene encodes a non-ATPase subunit of the 19S regulator lid and may also participate in TNF signaling through interaction with the TNF type 1 receptor.
  A pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 1.
