Target Information
VRK2 (Vaccinia Related Kinase 2) is a serine/threonine kinase belonging to the VRK family. It is widely expressed in human tissues and is highly expressed in actively dividing cells such as those in testis, leukocytes, fetal liver, and carcinomas. VRK2 phosphorylates casein and undergoes autophosphorylation. It interacts specifically with Epstein-Barr virus BHRF1, a Bcl-2 homolog, which contributes to protection of cells from apoptosis.
