Product Specific Information

This antibody is predicted to react with Monkey, Cat, Pig, Sheep, and Bovine.

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned and expressed, and the best clones are selected for production.
Advantages include:

  • Improved specificity and sensitivity
  • Lot-to-lot consistency
  • Animal origin-free formulations
  • Broader immunoreactivity due to the large rabbit immune repertoire

Target Information

Vimentin is a developmentally regulated intermediate filament protein (IFP) found in cells of mesenchymal origin. It is involved in intracellular protein transport between the nucleus and plasma membrane. During early cellular development, vimentin is co-expressed with desmin and later replaced by tissue-specific IFPs. It also plays a role in steroid synthesis by mediating cholesterol transport within cells.
Phosphorylation of vimentin at Ser56 leads to filament disassembly and cytoskeletal rearrangements that facilitate lipid droplet–mitochondria interactions, enhancing steroidogenic activity.
