Product Specific Information

  • Predicted to react with Monkey, Bovine, Sheep, and Goat.
  • Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems developed by cloning antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits.
  • Advantages include:
    • Better specificity and sensitivity
    • Lot-to-lot consistency
    • Animal origin-free formulations
    • Broader immunoreactivity to diverse targets due to larger rabbit immune repertoire

Target Information

Activins are dimeric growth and differentiation factors belonging to the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) superfamily.
They signal through a heteromeric complex of receptor serine kinases, including type I (I and IB) and type II (II and IIB) receptors.
These receptors are transmembrane proteins composed of:

  • Ligand-binding extracellular domain with cysteine-rich region
  • Transmembrane domain
  • Cytoplasmic domain with serine/threonine specificity

Type I receptors are essential for signaling, while type II receptors are required for ligand binding and type I receptor expression.
Upon ligand binding, type I and II receptors form a stable complex, leading to phosphorylation of type I receptors by type II receptors.
Mutations in Activin A are associated with fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva.
