Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as biomarkers for cancer and other diseases.
This gene belongs to the kallikrein subfamily located in a cluster on chromosome 19. The encoded protein may participate in proteolytic cascades in the skin and act as a biomarker for ovarian cancer.
Alternate splicing of this gene produces multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
