Target Information

Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as potential cancer and disease biomarkers.
The KLK8 gene is part of a kallikrein subfamily cluster on chromosome 19 and may be involved in proteolytic cascades in the skin, potentially serving as a biomarker for ovarian cancer.
Alternate splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
