Target Information

Casein kinase I (CKI) and casein kinase II (CKII) are families of serine/threonine protein kinases found in all eukaryotes. CKI family members (alpha, gamma, epsilon, delta) are involved in cytoplasmic and nuclear processes such as DNA replication and repair. CKII typically forms a tetrameric complex (α2β2 or αα′β2) where the α subunit is catalytically active and regulated by the β subunit through autophosphorylation. CKII activity is high in proliferating and differentiating cells and phosphorylates over 100 substrates, including nuclear oncoproteins, transcription factors, and DNA metabolism enzymes.
