Target Information
This gene encodes a member of a well-conserved family of proteins with similarity to yeast Tim mitochondrial import proteins. It is encoded by a nuclear gene and transported into the mitochondrial intermembrane space. These proteins form complexes that guide membrane-spanning proteins across the mitochondrial intermembrane space before insertion into the inner membrane. This gene is located adjacent to succinate dehydrogenase, subunit D (SDHD), which has been linked to hereditary paraganglioma.
