Target Information
ACKR1 (also known as DARC) is an atypical chemokine receptor that regulates chemokine levels and localization through high-affinity binding, independent of classical ligand-driven signaling. Instead, it mediates chemokine sequestration, degradation, or transcytosis.
ACKR1 acts as a chemokine-scavenging or decoy receptor with broad binding specificity for inflammatory chemokines from both CXC and CC families, excluding homeostatic chemokines.
It also serves as a receptor for chemokines such as CCL2, CCL5, CCL7, CCL11, CCL13, CCL14, CCL17, CXCL5, CXCL6, IL8/CXCL8, CXCL11, GRO, RANTES, MCP-1, and TARC, as well as for malaria parasites P. vivax and P. knowlesi.
