Description: The 16E7 monoclonal antibody recognizes human CD299, which is also known as DC-SIGNR or L-SIGN. A homolog of DC-SIGN, CD299 is an oligomeric type II transmembrane protein expressed on dendritic cells, macrophages in the lung, and endothelial cells in the liver. This C-type lectin binds ICAM-3 to mediate the interaction between dendritic cells and T cells. CD299 also binds the gp120 protein of HIV and the E2 envelope protein of HCV, thereby playing a role in viral infection.

Applications Reported: This 16E7 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested: This 16E7 antibody has been pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human monocyte-derived dendritic cells. This can be used at 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test. A test is defined as the amount (µg) of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 µL. Cell number should be determined empirically but can range from 10^5 to 10^8 cells/test.

Excitation: 633-647 nm; Emission: 660 nm; Laser: Red Laser.

Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

CLEC4M is a type II integral membrane protein that is 77% identical to CD209 antigen, a HIV gp120-binding protein. This protein, like CD209, efficiently binds both intercellular adhesion molecule 3 (ICAM3) and HIV-1 gp120, and enhances HIV-1 infection of T cells.Western blots using two different antibodies against two unique regions of this protein target confirm the same apparent molecular weight in our tests.This gene encodes a type II integral membrane protein that is 77% identical to CD209 antigen, a HIV gp120-binding protein. This protein, like CD209, efficiently binds both intercellular adhesion molecule 3 (ICAM3) and HIV-1 gp120, and enhances HIV-1 infection of T cells. This gene is mapped to 19p13.3, in a cluster with the CD209 and CD23/FCER2 genes. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene, but the biological validity of some variants has not been determined.
