Target Information
Surfactant protein A (SP-A) is an innate immune system collectin. The gene encoding SP-A maps to mouse chromosome 14.
SP-A plays a key role in innate host defense in the lung and is also expressed in the Eustachian tube.
Studies have shown that specific SP-A haplotypes and genotypes differ between children with recurrent otitis media and control populations.
