Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes Sialyl Lewis a-containing glycolipids (extracellular plasma membrane leaflet antigens).
For IHC (P), heat-mediated antigen retrieval in sodium citrate is recommended.
Target Information
Mucin glycoprotein is a Sialyl Lewis A structure synthesized from type 1 blood group precursor chains, present in individuals expressing Lewis A and/or Lewis B antigens.
In normal tissues, sialyl Lewis A antigen is found in ductal epithelium of the breast, kidney, salivary gland, and sweat glands.
Its expression is greatly enhanced in serum and tumor cells of gastrointestinal (GI) carcinomas, including adenocarcinomas of the stomach, intestine, and pancreas.
Preoperative elevated CA19-9 levels in stage I pancreatic carcinoma patients decrease to normal after surgery.
Serial CA19-9 monitoring can predict recurrence before radiographic or clinical findings.
