Target Information
TRPC2 is thought to form a receptor-activated calcium-permeant cation channel, likely operated by a phosphatidylinositol second messenger system activated by receptor tyrosine kinases or G-protein coupled receptors.
It is not activated by intracellular calcium store depletion and is expressed exclusively in vomeronasal organ neurons (sensory microvilli).
Belongs to the transient receptor family, STrpC subfamily, and contains 3 ANK repeats.
