SPARCL1은 세포외기질(extracellular matrix)에 존재하는 분비 단백질로, 림프절, 뇌, 심장, 폐, 골격근, 난소, 소장, 대장에서 높은 발현을 보이며, 태반, 췌장, 고환, 비장, 흉선에서는 낮은 수준으로 발현됩니다. 신장, 간, 말초혈액 백혈구에서는 발현되지 않습니다.
