KIAA1530 단백질은 자외선 조사 후 정지된 RNA polymerase II 소단위의 유비퀴틴화 및 탈인산화 과정에 관여합니다. 이 단백질은 뉴클레오타이드 절제 복구 복합체 구성원들과 상호작용하며, 전사 결합형 뉴클레오타이드 절제 복구(TC-NER) 경로를 통해 DNA 손상을 제거하는 데 기여합니다. KIAA1530 유전자의 결함은 UV-sensitive syndrome 3을 유발할 수 있습니다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 여러 전사 변이체가 생성됩니다.
