Target Information

PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase involved in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for mesenchymal-origin cells. The receptor can form homodimers or heterodimers depending on the bound growth factor.
The PDGFRB gene is located on chromosome 5, near genes for granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor and macrophage-colony stimulating factor receptor, all potentially involved in 5-q syndrome.
A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12, fusing PDGFRB (CD140b) and ETV6 leukemia gene, leads to chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
