Target Information
CXCR2 is a receptor for interleukin-8 (IL-8), a potent neutrophil chemotactic factor. It belongs to the GPCR family and mediates activation of neutrophils via G-protein signaling and phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger pathways. CXCR2 binds IL-8, GRO/MGSA, and NAP-2 with high affinity. It is expressed in various tissues, and ESTs have been isolated from human placenta and thymus libraries.
