Product Specific Information
Recombinant mouse IL-4 is a non-glycosylated protein containing 121 amino acids.
Reconstitute using sterile water at 1.0 mg/mL and centrifuge prior to opening vial. Gently pipet solution down the sides of the vial. Do not vortex sample.
Store reconstituted material at -20°C and add 0.1% BSA for additional stability.
Target Information
Interleukin-4 (IL-4) is a pleiotropic, immune-modulatory cytokine produced by activated T cells and serves as a ligand for the interleukin 4 receptor. IL-4 has a broad range of biological actions. The interleukin 4 receptor also binds IL-13, contributing to overlapping cytokine functions.
STAT6 plays an important role in mediating the immune regulatory signal of IL-4. The IL-4 gene is part of a cytokine cluster on chromosome 5q along with IL-3, IL-5, IL-13, and CSF2. IL-4 is located near IL-13 and IL-5, coordinated by long-range regulatory elements over a 120 kb region. IL-4 delta 2 is a known splice variant.
