Target Information
ABCD2 is a member of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily, which transports various molecules across cellular membranes. ABC genes are divided into seven subfamilies (ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White).
ABCD2 belongs to the ALD subfamily, involved in peroxisomal import of fatty acids and/or fatty acyl-CoAs. Peroxisomal ABC transporters are half transporters that form functional homodimeric or heterodimeric complexes.
This protein may function as a dimerization partner of ABCD1 or other peroxisomal ABC transporters.
