Product Specific Information
Description:
The RM4-5 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD4 molecule, a 55 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by thymocytes, mature T cell subsets, and dendritic cells. CD4 binds to MHC class II on antigen-presenting cells, playing a key role in T cell development and activation. In T cells, CD4 associates with tyrosine kinase p56lck through its cytoplasmic tail. Binding of RM4-5 is blocked by GK1.5.
Applications Reported:
Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse thymocytes and splenocytes. Recommended ≤0.25 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test, titration recommended for optimal performance.
Filtration:
0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
Target Information
CD4 antigen is involved in recognition of MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. It is primarily expressed in T helper cells, but also found in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CD4 expression is detectable in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain non-lymphoid tissues. It assists in T-cell activation through association with the T-cell receptor complex and Lck kinase. CD4 may also mediate neuronal damage in immune-related CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
