• For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of about 1 mg/mL.

Target Information

CD63 (LAMP-3) is a glycoprotein belonging to the tetraspanin family, localized in late endosomes, lysosomes, and secretory vesicles of various cell types. It can also appear on the plasma membrane following cell activation and is widely used as a basophil activation marker.

In mast cells, CD63 exposure does not require activation. CD63 interacts with integrins, influences phagocytosis and cell migration, and participates in trafficking of H/K-ATPase and regulation of ROMK1 channels. It also acts as a T-cell costimulatory molecule.

Expression of CD63 can serve as a prognostic marker in early-stage carcinomas. It is expressed on activated platelets and translocated to the plasma membrane after platelet activation. CD63 is also found in monocytes, macrophages, and weakly in granulocytes, B, and T cells. It is identical to melanoma-associated antigen ME491 and platelet antigen PTLGP40.

Diseases associated with CD63 dysfunction include melanoma and Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome.
