Target Information

The α/β hydrolase superfamily includes diverse members involved in critical biochemical processes and various diseases. Despite differences in sequence and substrate specificity, they share a canonical α/β hydrolase fold with an eight-stranded parallel α/β structure and a catalytic triad composed of histidine, an acid, and a nucleophile.

Members of this superfamily are potential drug targets for diseases such as diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, obesity, and blood clotting disorders. The ABHD gene subfamily includes 15 members, most of which utilize a serine nucleophile forming the G-X-S-X-G motif.
