Product Specific Information

Epitope sequence: EQKLISEEDL, located in amino acids 410–419 of human c-Myc protein.

Target Information

The c-Myc protein is a 62 kDa transcription factor encoded by the c-Myc gene on human chromosome 8q24. It is frequently activated in tumor cells and is crucial for cellular proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and cell cycle progression.

Phosphorylation at Thr58/Ser62 by kinases such as GSK3, CDK, ERK2, and JNK has been linked to regulation of cell proliferation and cycle control. c-Myc plays essential roles in vasculogenesis and angiogenesis during tumor development.

Antibodies against c-Myc epitopes can detect Myc-tagged proteins fused to either amino- or carboxy-termini. Amplification or translocation of the c-Myc gene is associated with various cancers, including:

  • Lung, breast, and colon carcinomas
  • Neuroblastomas (N-Myc amplification)
  • Burkitt’s lymphoma and other B-cell lymphoproliferative diseases
  • Tumors of colorectal, gastric, hepatic, ovarian, and hematopoietic origin
