Target Information
CD127 (Interleukin-7 receptor alpha, IL-7Rα) is a glycoprotein involved in the regulation of lymphopoiesis. The response of cells to CD127 depends on the presence of the interleukin-7 receptor (IL7R), which forms an active alpha/gamma chain heterodimer.
The gamma(c) chain, also associated with the interleukin-2 receptor, activates signal transduction, while the alpha chain determines specific signaling events through cytoplasmic associations.
CD127 promotes proliferation of precursor B cells, thymocytes, T cell progenitors, and mature CD4+ and CD8+ T cells. Dysfunction of CD127 is linked to severe combined immunodeficiency disorders.
