Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL (Product #89882).

Target Information

Ep-CAM (epithelial adhesion molecule, ESA) is a transmembrane glycoprotein (~40 kDa) expressed in epithelial tissues. It mediates Ca²⁺-independent homotypic cell adhesion, influencing cell cycle regulation, proliferation, and metabolism through activation of genes such as c-myc, cyclin A, and cyclin E.
Ep-CAM expression negatively regulates cadherin-mediated adhesion, affecting epithelial differentiation and growth. Overexpression is associated with increased epithelial proliferation and is highly expressed in human carcinomas, serving as a marker for tumors of epithelial origin. It is localized to the basolateral surface of most simple epithelia and many carcinoma types, and can distinguish adenocarcinomas from pleural mesotheliomas.
