Product Specific Information
For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
Ep-CAM (epithelial adhesion molecule, ESA) is a transmembrane glycoprotein (~40 kDa) expressed in epithelial tissues. It mediates Ca²⁺-independent homotypic cell adhesion and influences cell cycle, proliferation, and metabolism by inducing genes such as c-myc, cyclin A, and cyclin E.
Ep-CAM adhesion negatively regulates cadherin-mediated adhesion, affecting epithelial cell differentiation and growth. Overexpression is associated with enhanced epithelial proliferation and is a marker for tumors of epithelial origin.
Ep-CAM is expressed on the baso-lateral surface of most simple epithelia and various carcinoma types, distinguishing adenocarcinomas from pleural mesotheliomas.
