Target Information
TM4SF1 is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily (tetraspanin family). These cell-surface proteins contain four hydrophobic domains and mediate signal transduction events involved in cell development, activation, growth, and motility.
TM4SF1 is highly expressed in the vascular endothelium of several human cancers. Knockdown of TM4SF1 prevents filopodia formation, inhibits cell mobility, blocks cytokinesis, and suppresses VEGF-A-induced angiogenesis, indicating its potential as a target for anti-angiogenesis therapy.
