CD59 (Protectin)은 18–20 kDa 크기의 GPI-anchored 단백질로, membrane attack complex (MAC)를 억제하는 역할을 하는 보체계의 주요 조절 인자입니다.
CD59은 C5b-8 복합체와 결합하여 세포막 내 cytolytic pore 형성을 방지하며, T 세포 공동자극 및 림프구 신호전달에도 관여합니다.
CD59 유전자의 돌연변이는 용혈성 빈혈, 혈전증, 뇌경색을 포함한 CD59 결핍 질환을 유발할 수 있습니다.
