Target Information
Spectrin is a major component of the cytoskeletal network underlying the erythrocyte plasma membrane, determining cell shape and organization of organelles.
Spectrin beta 4 is a non-erythrocyte member expressed in the brain and pancreatic islets, localized to the nuclear matrix, cytoplasmic vesicles, and PML nuclear bodies.
Beta4 spectrins are essential for membrane stability and molecular organization of the nodes of Ranvier.
