Target Information
PGAM1 belongs to the phosphoglycerate mutase family. It plays a key role in glucose and 2,3-bisphosphoglycerate metabolism, catalyzing the reversible conversion of 3-phosphoglycerate (3-PGA) to 2-phosphoglycerate (2-PGA) in glycolysis.
PGAM1 is a dimeric enzyme with different isozyme compositions depending on tissue type: muscle (MM), brain (BB), and hybrid (MB).
Mutations in PGAM1 cause muscle phosphoglycerate mutase deficiency (glycogen storage disease X).
Recombinant human PGAM protein, fused with His-tag at the N-terminus, was expressed in E. coli and purified using conventional chromatography.
