PA5-29885 targets HDAC8 in WB applications and shows reactivity with Human, Rat, and Mouse samples.
The immunogen is a recombinant fragment corresponding to a region within amino acids 139–377 of Human HDAC8.

Target Information

In the intact cell, DNA associates closely with histones and other nuclear proteins to form chromatin. Chromatin remodeling is a key component of transcriptional regulation, largely driven by acetylation of nucleosomal histones.
Acetylation of lysine residues in histone tails induces an allosteric change, increasing DNA accessibility to transcription factors. Conversely, histone deacetylation is linked to transcriptional silencing.

Multiple mammalian histone acetylases have been identified, including GCN5, PCAF, p300/CBP, HAT1, and TFIID subunit TAF II p250.
HDAC8, isolated from human kidney, is a nuclear histone deacetylase with distinct tissue distribution and roles in tissue development and cancer etiology.
