Target Information

The G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily comprises approximately 600–1,000 members and represents the largest known class of molecular targets with therapeutic potential.
The nociceptin receptor (NOP) is a G-protein-coupled opioid receptor that binds the endogenous neuropeptide nociceptin. Ligand binding induces conformational changes that activate guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins), modulating downstream effectors such as adenylate cyclase and calcium channels.
Arrestins further regulate G protein signaling and activate alternative pathways leading to MAP kinase activation.
NOP plays a key role in modulating nociception, pain perception, and locomotor activity regulation.
