Target Information
The CLPS protein acts as a cofactor for pancreatic lipase, enhancing lipid hydrolysis efficiency. It binds to the non-catalytic domain of lipase, stabilizing an active conformation and increasing hydrophobic binding. CLPS enables lipase anchoring to lipid micelles and counteracts bile salt interference. Expression occurs specifically in pancreatic acinar cells, with three transcript variants encoding different isoforms identified.
