Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Carnitine acetyltransferase (CRAT) is a key enzyme in the metabolic pathway within mitochondria, peroxisomes, and endoplasmic reticulum. CRAT catalyzes the reversible transfer of acyl groups from an acyl-CoA thioester to carnitine, regulating the acylCoA/CoA ratio in subcellular compartments.
Alternative splicing of the CRAT gene produces three distinct isoforms, one of which contains an N-terminal mitochondrial transit peptide and is localized in mitochondria.
