Product Specific Information

This antibody binds to carboxy-terminal oligo-histidine tags (6x His tags) of fusion proteins.
It also has affinity for internal His-tags but no affinity for N-terminal His-tags.

Target Information

The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH).
It is commonly fused at either the N- or C-terminal regions of recombinant proteins to enable purification by immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).

Epitope tagging allows detection or purification of recombinant proteins by fusing a known epitope sequence.
His-tagged proteins can be purified through interaction of histidine residues with metal ions such as Ni²⁺ on Ni-NTA resins, providing strong and selective binding.

His tag-specific antibodies, such as this one, are widely used for detection and co-immunoprecipitation of His-tagged proteins.
