Target Information

This gene encodes a member of the DEAD box protein family, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD) and known as putative RNA helicases. These proteins are involved in various cellular processes including RNA secondary structure alteration, translation initiation, splicing, and ribosome/spliceosome assembly. Some members play roles in embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth and division. This gene may influence prognosis in gastrointestinal stromal tumors. A pseudogene exists on chromosome 13. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.
