Target Information
ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain with Thrombospondin type-1 modules) is a family of zinc-dependent proteases involved in diverse physiological and pathological processes such as arthritis and cancer. These proteins participate in extracellular matrix remodeling during embryogenesis, inflammation, and tumor invasion.
ADAMTS family members possess a propeptide domain, metalloproteinase domain, disintegrin-like domain, and a variable number of thrombospondin type-1 (TSP-1) motifs.
ADAMTS genes are mainly expressed in fetal tissues including lung, kidney, and liver. The human ADAMTS10 gene maps to chromosome 19p13.3, while ADAMTS19 maps to chromosome 5q31.
