Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motif) protein family. Members share several distinct protein modules, including a propeptide region, metalloproteinase domain, disintegrin-like domain, and thrombospondin type 1 (TS) motif. Family members differ in the number of C-terminal TS motifs and may have unique C-terminal domains.
ADAMTS14 is highly similar to ADAMTS2 and ADAMTS3 in sequence and gene structure, sharing aminoprocollagen peptidase activity. Various transcript variants exist due to different promoters and alternative splicing, though some full-length transcripts have not been defined.
