Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95%, confirmed by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Smoothened drosophila homolog (SMOH) is a serpentine protein belonging to the G-protein coupled receptor Fz/Smo family with 787 amino acids. It contains seven transmembrane domains, four glycosylation sites, and a putative extracellular amino terminus.
Smoothened is activated by β-Arrestin 2 and GRK2 and acts as a receptor for Sonic hedgehog (Shh), functioning as a positive regulator of the hedgehog signaling pathway along with the patched protein (PTCH). It regulates vertebrate development, cellular proliferation, and differentiation by activating transcription factor Gli.
Mutations in Smoothened are associated with sporadic basal cell carcinoma of the skin and it is widely expressed in heart and brain tissues.
