The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).

Target Information

This gene encodes ubiquitin, one of the most conserved proteins known. Ubiquitin is required for ATP-dependent, nonlysosomal intracellular protein degradation of abnormal proteins and normal proteins with rapid turnover. Ubiquitin is covalently bound to proteins to be degraded, labeling them for degradation. It also binds to histone H2A in actively transcribed regions, suggesting involvement in gene expression regulation. The gene consists of three direct repeats of the ubiquitin coding sequence with no spacer sequence, expressed as a polyubiquitin precursor. Aberrant forms have been observed in patients with Alzheimer’s and Down syndrome.
