Target Information
Heme oxygenase는 heme 대사에 필수적인 효소로, heme을 biliverdin으로 절단하며 biliverdin은 biliverdin reductase에 의해 bilirubin으로 전환된다. 또한 carbon monoxide를 생성하며 이는 신경전달물질로 작용할 수 있다. Heme oxygenase 활성은 heme 및 다양한 비-heme 물질에 의해 유도된다. 이 효소는 유도형 heme oxygenase-1(HMOX1)과 구성형 heme oxygenase-2(HMOX2)의 두 가지 isozyme으로 존재한다. HMOX1과 HMOX2는 heme oxygenase 패밀리에 속하며, 여러 전사체 변이체가 보고되어 있다.
