Product Specific Information

A 1:1,000 dilution of MA5-45264 was sufficient to detect DMPO nitrone adducts of metmyoglobin (100 ng/lane) by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Recognizes DMPO, DMPO-octanoic acid, DMPO-protein adducts, and DMPO-DNA adducts.
Does not cross-react with non-adducted proteins or DNA.


Target Information

The formation of free radicals and other highly reactive oxygen species is implicated in many disease states. Identifying these species is crucial, and spin trapping has enabled this detection.
DMPO (5,5-dimethyl-1-pyrroline N-oxide) is relatively non-toxic and exhibits favorable pharmacokinetics in biological systems.
Studies show that nitric oxide can affect DMPO adduct quantification, requiring caution when studying species generation in its presence.
DMPO adducts can form with protein and DNA radicals.
